Orthotics — Chapters & Study Resources
Choose how you want to learn.
Three focused units and eight chapters—from the mechanics of foot support to bracing, fitting and evaluating a functional outcome.
Explore the units
Start with orthotic principles and foot mechanics, then work through lower-extremity bracing, spinal support and hand orthoses.
Practice as you go
Each chapter ends with an application question and an explanation. Consider why a device might help a task, what it might compromise, and what evidence would justify changing the plan.
Take the lesson into a real task
Begin with the activity that matters to the person. Observe the biomechanics, protect vulnerable tissue, compare devices or strategies, and reassess both benefit and trade-offs.
These lessons come from personal PT-school Orthotics notes, with newer clinical research identified separately. Compare with your own class material. They are not a substitute for an orthotist, a medical prescription, post-surgical restrictions or supervised professional training.
