SWOT, the marketing mix and ethical outreach

22 SWOT, the marketing mix and ethical outreach Where should a new clinic invest its limited marketing time?

Core ideas from class

  • SWOT separates internal strengths and weaknesses from external opportunities and threats.
  • The marketing “4 Ps” are product/service, price, place and promotion; connect each to the patient population and a service’s real value.
  • Choose a target audience, define a defensible service promise and decide how you will evaluate whether outreach improves access or referral fit.

Think like a PT

A rural clinic wants better post-op access. Use SWOT to identify transportation barriers, competing services, staffing capacity and possible orthopedic partnerships.

Remember

Marketing is useful when it solves a patient access problem without exaggerating claims.

Historical source note: Old advertising examples and marketing-law descriptions are starting points, not current legal clearance.

From my class sources: 10 Marketing & Strategic Planning.pdf. These are personal school notes with newer editorial context—not a current legal, payroll, payer-contract or reimbursement manual. Check applicable rules and dates before professional use.
